I looked up and at first couldn’t believe my eyes. There she crossed the meadow, a European roe deer, last time I saw her she was still pregnant. Now she has a beautiful fawn with her! Since fawns spend the first few days of their lives curled up and hidden somewhere in the tall grass or undergrowth, this one must have been born earlier in the week. When the fawns are hidden the mother will always find them back to make sure they are well fed, she knows exactly where they are.
